Types of Acne Treatment

If you are looking for the best acne treatment, chances are you haven't found anything worth your time, and chances are they have caused irritation and redness, in some cases even making acne worse. This being said, the best way to treat acne would be to use a combination of ingredients best suited to addressing the major contributors. There are a few basic types of acne treatments, and in most cases, I suggest you use all of them.

Antibacterials-this is the most obvious one. It includes ingredients like tea tree oil, chamomile oil, and benzoyl peroxide. Basically speaking, these ingredients ideally work their way into the skin to kill off bacteria, making the skin a hostile place for those problems. Unfortunately, in some cases, many have found that antibacterials also make the skin a hostile place for you, drying out skin, irritating it, etc. You can avoid this problem by using ingredients such as tea tree oil.

Exfoliators-these are essential to any acne treatment. Exfoliators eliminate dead skin cells that build up on the surface of the skin every day. This allows the skin to breathe, and quite frankly speaking, it often allows oxygen into the pores in order to kill off some bacteria all on its own. It also allows your skin to regenerate at a higher rate.

Moisturizers-you never thought you'd hear this, it's ridiculous right! No. Your skin produces excess oils, because for whatever reason, right or wrong, it believes that it does not have enough. Therefore, by moisturizing your skin, you are actually helping it to regulate itself.

Detoxifiers-One of the major reasons you may suffer excess acne is because of toxins. This is the reason why most acne treatments don't work. Toxins lie on the inside of the body, and it is extremely difficult for an external treatment to draw them out. There are ingredients such as bentonite clay that can do it. However, you will rarely if ever find these in an external treatment. Therefore, in most cases, you should use an internal treatment.

Vitamins and minerals-your skin needs essential vitamins and minerals. Basically speaking, when you experience acne, it is your body's way of crying out for help. If it is deficient in one or more essential vitamins, it will use this mechanism of action to let you know. Of course, when you use even a good multivitamin, you will also experience various other benefits that you may not have expected previous to this. Some essential vitamins can even improve your skin in excess amounts. Vitamin A is a classic example, helping your skin to shed away excess skin cells at a higher rate.

Antiseptics-antiseptics are extremely essential. Basically speaking, your pore size is in large part determined by your genetic makeup. However, you can minimize them to a point, therefore helping to protect your pores from the buildup of excess oils and bacteria. Antiseptics would include ingredients such as witch hazel and tea tree oil.

steps to acne treatment

Achieving an acne free face isn't as difficult as some people make it out to be. Sure, you need to have a systematic regime of face cleaning in place, but at the end of the day if you just apply a little effort and consistency to your face cleaning duties, you'll have an acne free face in almost no time at all.

Before we go into more specific strategies and face cleaning products that you can use, let's go into a bit of history about acne facial treatment. Did you know that bath soap, of all things, was the predominant, perhaps even the only, form of acne treatment as recently as half a century or so a ago? Since this time there has obviously been a wide market for skin care and acne treatment products, hence why the industry has reached the level it's at today.

If you're contemplating purchasing some form of acne treatment products, then you should be mindful of the following things:

Is the Cleanser Water Soluble?

Check to make sure that the cleanser is water soluble. Non water soluble cleansers can have a variety of problems including leaving excess residual on your face. Check on the packaging of the product to make sure that it's water soluble.

Avoid Perfumes or Scented Cleansers

Perfumed and scented cleansers provide a nice smell, but they don't offer you any real benefit, in fact they may offer you nothing more than a negative things as opposed to non perfumed cleansers. Perfumed cleansers may contain additional chemicals or products that your face doesn't need. Ensure your cleaners are scent and perfume free.

Are the cleansers soap free?

Whilst soap used to be the predominant form of acne treatment, it's not required so much today in order to ensure an acne free face. The reason being is that soap will dry your skin, and there are other, less harsher skin care products out there that you should use instead of soap that can treat your skin just as well, without drying it out.

So whilst there may be a fair bit to look out for when it comes to getting your next acne treatment product, always keep in mind the above three points to ensure that you purchase a product that will help you treat your acne in the best possible manner. If you follow the guidelines as set out about, then you should be well on your way to obtaining an acne free face. Remember to wash daily, cleanse your face, and apply the right skin care creams each night.
